"Promoting Leadership Throughout the Organization
-- Be Innovative, Be Bold, Be Inclusive,
and Be Inspirational!"

Message from the Director: It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to the SHRM Georgia State Council website. The SHRM Georgia State Council serves more than 10,000 human resources professionals within the State of Georgia who are members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), local chapters and student affiliate chapters.

The SHRM Georgia State Council is an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) -- the leading membership association for over 232,000 human resources professionals, world-wide. The SHRM Georgia State Council was launched in 1992 and directed by a number of outstanding volunteer leaders whose collective contributions to the profession resulted in strong growth and excellent programming throughout the State.

Be Bold, Be Inclusive, and Be Inspirational! The State Council has 54 Board members (which includes chapter presidents), who bring a great deal of energy, talent and proven success to the table. They represent leading organizations throughout the state and they are educators, consultants, legal professionals, human resources practitioners, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and business persons. I'm excited about 2008, because you can expect a great deal from this talented group of volunteer leaders!

The SHRM Georgia State Council serves 19 chapters and one satellite chapter that are located in cities and counties throughout the State of Georgia. To promote the human resources profession in 2008, the Council will:

Be Innovative: Provide programs that meet the needs of the Community, the Profession and the Professionals.
Be Inclusive: Build partnering relationships with organizations throughout the State to serve the professions, meet the needs of employers, and provide resources and creative solutions to workplace issues.
Be Bold: Provide Leadership and Development Opportunities and Creative Best Practice Information, Tips and Techniques.
Be Inspirational: Demonstrate Commitment and Passion for the human resources professional and build mentoring relationships to foster continued growth and development within the profession.

Our 19 chapters (two that are SHRM 2007 Pinnacle Award Recipients) provide tremendous opportunities for human resources professionals to develop their careers and build invaluable networking relationships. We had over 50 percent of our chapters receive recognition rewards from SHRM for outstanding leadership and excellent programs and events. This year, our Board members and chapter leadership professionals will launch a number of impressive programs and hold conferences and workshops that address critical workplace issues. Please continue to visit our website and have an opportunity to participate in the conferences, workshops, networking opportunities, state-of-the-art human resources practices, legal updates, and employment opportunities throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Eunice M. Glover,
State Director
SHRM Georgia State Council Director
